ADOPT A CAT
For cats and kittens for adoption, see:
www.petfinder.org/shelters/MA322.html
Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley also adopts directly from our foster homes. When you adopt directly from ARMV, you free up a foster home allowing us to bring another cat in off the street.
See our Events page for adopt-a-thons and adoption event information.
How do I adopt a cat?
Download the Adoption Application and submit it electronically to our Adoption Counselor at adoptions@ARMV.org or mail the adoption application to:
Adoption Counselor Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley
PO Box 8006
Bradford, MA 01835-8006 USA
Upon receipt, an adoption counselor will review the application to determine if any additional information is required.
All applicants must be 18 years of age or older. The application process usually takes 2-5 days and the applicant will be notified by telephone once their application is either approved or denied.
After approval of your application, we may ask you to put a $25 deposit to hold a cat/kitten. If the application is approved but the applicant decides not to adopt the cat, the deposit is forfeited.
An applicant may have an approved application put on file for future use if he or she has not decided upon a specific animal at the time of application.
For a same-day adoption of a cat/kitten, the applicant must show proof of vaccinations for any other owned pets, permission from a landlord that pets are allowed (if they rent), and three references not related to the applicant.
What Is Included In The Adoption Fees
The cats and kittens are pre-neutered, Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) tested and have shots up to
date. Now included is microchipping with free registration and 1 month free pet
health insurance.
Some cats/kittens may not be able to receive all of these vaccines. It is the adopter's responsibility to get the new cat's vaccines. Everyone receives a health record of vaccines and treatments the cat has received.
